Trouble deleting a file

Hi, i haven't found any topic with this subject, so, i created a new one for it.

My trouble, is, when i try to delete WinAvi (video converter). When it's about to end the desinstalation, pop ups a message that said:

Error 1306. Another application as an excusive access to the file WINDOWS/WindowsUpdate.log. Please shut down all other applications, then click Retry.

But i cant shut down anything else, i'd shut down my every applications, and it doesn't work.

What can i do? It is safe if a delete manualy the file WindowsUpdate.log?

Thanx For Reading

You can:

  • Log into Safe Mode, the run CCleaner's Cleaner button that deals with junk files and it will get rid of it.
  • Manually delete it in Safe Mode.
  • Temporarily disable Automatic Updates then tools like CCleaner will be able to delete it in normal Windows mode.
  • From normal Windows mode you could use Unlocker to get rid of it.

If you still have a problem after trying Andavaris suggestions, you could try "MoveOnBoot".

MoveOnBoot allows you to copy, move or delete files on the next system boot. This comes in very handy, if you need to replace or delete files which are locked by other applications, loaded into memory or cannot be changed until next system boot.
