I'm using a laptop with windows 7 64-bit and have had a few problems with the latest version of ccleaner.
- thumbnail cache does not show up when I do an analyze
- If I only analyze thumbnail cache and nothing else it says "0 bytes to be removed" but this is not true.
- Ccleaner will sometimes delete my thumbnail cache when I did not have it checked to delete. But it doesn't show up in what got deleted after the clean.
- Ccleaner will sometimes clear my start menu programs when "user assist history" is not checked.
wait so you run cleaner, then you analyis and get no results?
i don't understand shouldn't this be correct behavior?
No because I do not delete thumbnail cache when I clean, but after a clean it say's my thumbnail cache is at zero but it's not at zero. Or I analyze thumbnail cache and get zero bytes even thou my thumbnail cache is at say 150MB.
Since you are on x64, could you please tell us the location of the thumbnail cache, perhaps it is different in x64 than in x86 (note I'm just grasping at straws but it's worth a look)
Ok now that's wierd. . . on my 32bit win7 it does delete the .db files but not the .tmp and it reports 0 bytes cleaned per OP
MMMM
Makes me wonder if
Thumbnail Cache - This option clears the Windows Explorer image thumbnail cache, which is maintained to speed up the browsing of folders containing photos and images. But it will also contain the thumbnails of images that are no longer on the system. (This rule is for Window Vista only.)

means that this rule is also not for windows 7 :-/
It would seem that this actually does not work! I used unlocker to see why ccleaner couldn't delete the .db files, and it turns out they're in use by Explorer.exe
I guess thats why they're not removed and thats why there is a special folder for ones to be deleted.
