There is a program listed, but I uninstalled it already!

I noticed this was already seen as a frequently asked question, but I'm still highly unaware of how to remove it.

There is a program listed, but I uninstalled it already!
This is caused by a lingering Detect registry key, or detectfile file. Simply remove the offender and it'll disappear from your list If you need help, feel free to post, but you should check the embedded ini's for the location of the offender first.

The program I'm talking about is Google Chrome. If anyone could help me properly locate this lingering Detect registry key file it would be highly appreciated.

Why are you asking about GC in the CCleaner forum??

Have you tried Control Panel, "Add or Remove Programs" yet??

Richard S.

Obviously I have uninstalled it. This is completely CCleaner related. If you actually read the post you'll see what I mean. It still shows up in CCleaner after I uninstall it.

Look in program files for a left over folder.

Or in the registry in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE...software

and also HKEY_CURRENT_USER ...software for a left over key.

(Usual warning about tampering with the registry apply)

...also look in your User Profile folder, you'll need to enable the view of Hidden Files and Folders then browse into "Application Data" or "AppData" (depending upon your Windows version) where you may also find a Google Chrome folder with left-overs.

An excellent tool for this task and any other search is EVERYTHING from

http://www.voidtools.com/

I typed on the search bar

CHROME

By the time I looked up from the keyboard (not a touch typist) the answers were on the screen,

I have 8 folders with the name CHROME

and 12 files which include "chrome" as part of the name.

These 18 items are displayed with the path - and everyone is in a Firefox profile.

I have 88,925 files and folders on all partitions and both HDD, and these 18 were selected in less than one second.

Everything should locate all things "chrome" regardless of where they are hidden

You know people, answering these questions would be so much easier on the Original poster if you checked the embedded INI files ;)
