CCleaner pro version 6.34.11482. Getting a popup when I open this app, “The product is not permitted for use in your current location.”
I’m in Pennsylvania. Since when is that an issue? Yes I use VPN, but I’ve disconnected and it is still popping up.
There haven’t been any other such reports that I’m aware off.
If you check your routers current IP where is it supposedly located?
We have seen similar happening before where a Internet Service Provider has used some re-allocated IPs that had originally been issued to a country that was later sanctioned.
eg. A few years ago in 2019 an Internet Service Provider in Spain started using IP’s that had originally been allocated to Iran/Syra/Cuba, and which where still being blocked by some softwares.
Anyone getting allocated one of these IPs found themselves blocked from doing various things, including installing or even running various softwares.
Similar happened again in 2023.
It’s also possible that you are somehow being seen as in Russia, which is currently on many sanctions lists.
I’d try disconnecting your router (just turn the power off) and reconnecting it to see if you get a different IP allocated to the router.
Already checked geo-IP location. It’s accurate. Comcast doesn’t just re-assign an IP like that, you can’t even call them and ask. It’s basically static.
Rebooted everything etc.
20 years in IT, I did all the things. This is a software issue.
If you mean “This is a CCleaner issue” I’m afraid that without anyone else reporting similar happening to them as corroboration then I can’t agree (yet).
I’d say that it more likely a networking/IP issue.
Whilst it is always possible that someone may have put a wrong IP range on a sanctions list, (FPs do happen), you would expect that to affect more than just one user.
Has this happend ever since you updated to v6.34, or could you open v6.34 previously and the block has started since?
It’s just possible that your install/update of CCleaner v6.34 glitched in some way, and so I’d try reinstalling CCleaner.
You can download a new installer from here: Download CCleaner builds | CCleaner Portable, Slim, and more
I suggest the ‘Slim’ (3rd one down) it installs exactly the same CCleaner as the Standard installer does, but the installer itself is slightly different.
Just double-click the downloaded installer, there is no need to uninstall the old CCleaner first.
If you don’t uninstall then the new one will pick up you license key and settings from the current install.
If you do uninstall then make a note of your license key amd settings, because you will need to re-register/activate the new install and put your own settings back.
This isn’t a networking issue. I’ve rebooted all my gear. Disabled VPN so it doesn’t auto-reconnect. ETC.
Reinstalling didn’t do anything either.
Sorry but as nobody else is reporting such an issue then it has to be assumed that the issue is something within your setup.
From what you say you have no issue downloading or installing CCleaner, the issue only happens when you try to run it.
What AntiVirus and/or AntiMalware are you using?
I suggest that you check your Firewalls etc.
Plus - despite what you say about Comcast re-boot your router.
Have you tried running CCleaner in Windows Safe Mode?
You haven’s said - Was CCleaner working OK for you and this issue started suddenly?
Or is this a first time install and you have not had CCleaner running on the machine proviously?
