Does anyone know about the new Beta version that asks you to upgrade and pay extra money on your existing account? I already paid for this year’s renewal on the other version, v6.37.11523. Why should I pay for a beta version?
We know very little about the v7 beta that is now being offered to some users.
For instance that’s the first I’ve heard that they want more money. (For you to do their testing for them? Lol).
If you don’t want to use a beta test version then stick with the fully released v6.##
Nukecad, if you haven’t downloaded this beta version yet, well, once you do, you can use it, but certain tasks require an upgrade. You can see at the bottom left-hand corner the yellow upgrade button. Also, I agree that they are using us to prove their new version, but they still want money. I’m not paying for it, that is certain. I will stick with the old version unless they include the new version in my account without the extra fee. However, I must say that this beta version is a lot nicer to look at then the other version.
I haven’t been offered it. (yet?)
Came here looking for info on the same thing. Email says all features in the beta are free for testers…yet it wants money to upgrade? I think something is wrong!
The answer is obvious. It’s about who they can fool into paying. I am sure they must have seen our threads regarding this issue in this forum, but there has been no feedback from them. It also appears that only a few of us received this email to try their new version of CCleaner. I thought it was sent to all their customers. Again, I am not paying when they said it was free, so I keep using the older version with all its functions.
I have a pop up of said upgrade, but reading the thread made me think twice. If they want to charge, I will not pay. We’re already paying for a Pro Version. Why charge more. It should be a free upgrade for us. If you do try the Beta Version, will you be able to revert back to your previous version?
Just reinstall the Standard, fully released, version and it will replace the Beta or whichever version you currently have installed.
(Note that you may not be offered the beta again).
You can always find the installer for the latest fully released version here: Download CCleaner builds | CCleaner Portable, Slim, and more
Download the installer and double-click it to install the current CCleaner release.
DON’T uninstall your installed CCleaner first - If you have CCleaner Pro the new install will pick up your licence from the one already installed.
(If you have uninsalled then you will need to enter your licence key again to activate the new install).
I installed the beta version (7) when offered some months ago and like it. A few days ago it started getting stuck after the first scan and now just loops back to asking to scan again. No cleaning happens. I have reverted back to version 6.38 but like version 7 more. Is there a fix for this? Thanks.
Well the thing about Beta versions of any software is that they are unfinished versions that users are trying (testing), and because they are unfinished then that means that they can be prone to bugs.
If you still have a way to reinstall v7 (I don’t believe there is a stand alone installer at this point, I assume that it’s only available through offer) they you could try reinstalling it to see if it starts working for you again now or later.
Other than that you’ll have to stay with v6.## now until v7 gets fully released. (Which could be months or even years away).
Thanks very much. I am not surprised. I have not found a stand alone install for 7 so I guess I will just wait. ![]()
To tidy things up a bit and try to keep posts about the v7 Beta together in one place.
