Nice one Hazelnut & a good warning, reminds me why I do not use things like Facebook, etc, etc, etc.

I hold back for a while do not use it when first notified of the opening Gmail.
The Buzz symbol will still be there on your left.
I have scrolled to the bottom of the gmail page and clicked on the 'turn off Buzz' The Buzz symbol goes then.
If you read that link some people reported users being able to access other peoples profiles in Buzz when those people weren't using it.
That's why I turned mine off for now.

Doh! ... And there I was looking under 'Settings' ... far too sensible

Thanks, Hazelnut. This was a great post, and I thank you for bringing it to our attention.
I love Gmail and Google products, but this is a disgrace. I have turned it off and edited my profile. It really makes me wonder what scary ideas Google has for the future.
I've also turned Buzz off. I don't even use any social networking sites, so why start now?

there's easiest way to turn completely off Buzz even DISABLE it.
Go to Settings > Buzz > Disable Google Buzz > Done
Buzz gone away
