System Volume Information?

I was using CC Cleaner to try and figure out why my HDD is so full. Using the Disk Analyzer, it shows 89% of the space is used by “Other Files” - Of this, by FAR the largest portion (75%) is contained in a single file under C:\System Volume Information - What is this and can I reduce the file size/delete it?

Old but i think still relevant https://www.howtogeek.com/282214/what-is-the-system-volume-information-folder-and-can-i-delete-it/

Thanks for this, but when I go to the System folder as per the above link, only about 3GB in restore Points are found, max as set to 9 GB. My System Volume is over 150 GB!

Try running windows inbuilt clean, may be update files in there, if i remember correctly. In clean manager (windows tool) try to clean most everything

Are you using Windows 10 or Windows 11?
What sometimes works is to turn off protection for C and delete all restore points. Then turn protection back on again. This should clear up your problem. I don’t mess with the System Volume Info folder.
I keep my restore points off by the way as I use Macrium Reflect so I have no need to have restore points turned on as it crates a bigger back up.
