When I choose "analyze", the system tells me there are 2GB of temporary files targeted for deletion. When I run the cleaner, it only removes a few kilobytes. When I run analyze again, it again tells me there are 2GB of temporary files to be deleted. Why will Ccleaner not delete the files? I have tried running it in safe mode, but that didn't help. I am using WinXP Pro with SP3.

what are the files? (double click on the analysis that reports the big amount)
can you manually delete them
I have several computers but one computer has a problem and I am trying to figure out the source. When I run CCleaner --- there is an enormous amount of System temporary files -- like 4 mil KB. Other computers are never that high. Unfortunately that computer has Vista on it and I am temporary using it at home. The computer had a high % of defrag that was not corrected -- so I reinstalled the system and it went down to nothing. Now 1 month later, it will defrag and still have 31% not defragged. HELP!
To fix the high frag part of your post, try this.
Edit: I noticed that you are bumping, cos my link is to your old post. Your question is the same as before and you do not acknowledge trying my fix.
When you reinstalled the system you had no deleted files, restore points or hibernation, hence the zero frag count. Using your computer creates all that stuff.
CCleaner can overwrite most files, but restore and hibernation are blocked, so ticking those boxes doesn't include them in the count.
