System and Driver updates authenticity protection

Het,

Can someone elaborate on how ccleaner can’t be spoofed on software or driver updates? Perhaps, that’s a 1, in so many millions probability? tain’t sure

I doub’t that they would be ‘spoofed’ they get their information from known, reliable, sources.

Howver they can and do make mistakes, usually due to a version numbering error.
Sometimes the version number stored in an app it not the same as the published one.
(eg. is v2.1.0.123 the same as or older than v2.10.123? is there just a ‘dot’ missing from the second one but it’s the same version?)

Personally I use the updaters in CCleaner only as an advice tool.
If it says an app has an update then I go and check for myself, and update it myself if wanted/needed.

Let Windows Update do it own job. There is no need for any software updater to be doing Windows Updates, Windows takes care of itself.

Driver updaters can only tell you of there is a new version of the driver, it can’t say if that new version is suitable for your machine or not.
We see regular posts from someone who has updated to a new driver version that is not suitable for their machine and their machine is now not working properly. (In the worst cases not working at all).
I never update my drivers unless I’m actually having a problem with one - if it ain’t broke then don’t try to fix it.
