A third version of Downadup has been identified by Symantec, which says the new variant gives infected machines more powerful instructions to disable antivirus software and analysis tools, among other actions.
Thanks for the heads up YoKenny!
We are dealing with the W32.Downadup.B variant on our network currently. We have seen remnant files from this virus show up on users' computers who have not been patched with the KB958644 update. We have not seen the full blown virus on their computers though because Symantec/our firewall seems to pick up on the executables and either blocks them or quarantines them. However, this may change soon if the variant gets here before the definition files do.

I hope that avast! and Avira AntiVir pick up on these mutants as well.
I guess things are just as bad in the malware creation world as in the financial world and they are looking for any handout they can gather.

It's easy pickens when users refuse to update their operating systems, anti-virus/malware programs, and surf with no regard of security and saftey.
