Sun Java setting

I just installed v3.01.1327 over v3.00.1303.

This certainly is a wonderful program, for which I am very thankful!

My question is a simple one.

If a user decided to check Sun Java in the Internet Application section, what sort of cleaning would take place?

And why is it not a default... i.e. it would seem that most users do not want to enable Sun Java cleaning, and why is that?

Appreciate any input.

Appreciate any input.

It just cleans out old junk files -- the same cleaning CC does with all the other apps.

I don't know why 3.01 is ☐ unticked by default. Mine was ☑ ticked in 3.00, no problems.

1) if you installed it ontop of an old install java may have been unchecked in that install

2) yes it is unchecked by default on a new install, I believe this was changed (or done) because of the fact that many people had software (mostly games) which were being destroyed in the java cleanup

Here is the entry for Java

[sun Java]
ID=2094
LangSecRef=3022
Detect=HKLM\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Plug-in
Default=False
FileKey1=%appdata%\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache|*.*|RECURSE
FileKey2=%appdata%\Sun\Java\Deployment\javaws\cache|*.*|RECURSE

so it cleans all files in the java Caches referenced above. Often those include settings for programs (In my case it includes the Settings for the Daytrotter music downloader program) I still do check my Java cleaning in CCleaner but added an exclude so it kept my settings for the software. However this took a while to work out what folder to exclude, which is something many users weren't willing to continually lose their settings to test and find.

Often those include settings for programs

That's saying something, right there. In fact, I had checkied it for a day, then went back and unchecked it.

Thanks Nergal and kroozer for the info. :)
