I recovered a bunch of files and folders which had been accidently deleted from the Recycle Bin. I used Recuva 4.42.544 on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Recovery location was a new folder created specially for the recovery on an ext HD.
All of the recovered files that were in folders opened fine in their usual apps. Many of the files not in folders also opened fine. Fourteen files (doc, jpg, pdf, tiff) not in folders either were unopenable (format related), or opened looking as though they were in the wrong encoding, but alternative options were only foreign languages (not relevant). Several of the format problems said a file with a jpg extension was in fact a wmf file, which is weird because there were no wmf files.
I was unable to drag any of the recovered files or folders to move them to my internal HD. Nor could I move them within the external HD. In the end, I moved them to the internal HD via a 3rd party software that gave me a Move to... option in the r-click menu.
Question 1: Why could I not move/drag any of the recovered files or folders?
Question 2: Why did certain files not open properly and is there a way to view them?
Thank you very much for any help,
