Software updater constantly running

I am running Ccleaner professional version 7.10. 1464.0 & having tried to update software yesterday. I am now left with software updater constantly running. I have switched the PC off & software updater simply restarts with the PC. I have logged out & logged back in & it restarts again. Is there any way to solve this, other than by unloading Ccleaner?

Initial issue, now sorted. In as much as I have stopped it from constantly running. I shut down & re opened in safe mode. This seems to have broken the cycle & stopped updater restarting every time I turned the PC on. Clearly I can no longer safely use updater.

Hi @m0lsx,
If you restart the Software Updater function, do you experience the same issue?
If so please use the previous method to stop it and generate log files using the instructions below:

  1. Download and install the CCleaner Support Tool using the link below: https://download.ccleaner.com/CCleanerSupportTool.exe
  2. Replicate the issue on your end.
  3. Run the tool to generate the logs.
  4. At the end of the process, you’ll receive a 5-digit File ID.

Please share that File ID with me so I can review the logs and investigate further.

If you have any issues, please let me know.

I could not stop the software updater. And genuinely do worry about restarting something that took me so much time & effort to get rid of. I have a genuine concern that next time, safe start will not solve the issue. This program was restarting it’s self when the PC was turned off & back on!. I genuinly do not trust the program to run & not cause even more issues next time.

If you can tell me a guaranteed way of stopping the program. I will happily restart it again. But when running it slows my PC down. So I have no intention of restating something that causes me issues, unless I know I can 100% stop it next time.

@m0lsx Unfortunately, unfortunatly if the software updater is restarting after you reboot your device, I can’t say for certain this won’t happen again.
Without log files, we will be unable to understand what is happening and why this issue is occurring.
I completely understand you are not willing to retry this if you get stuck in the same loop.
