32 Bit 7 can only use 32 Bit CCleaner
64 Bit 7 can use 32 Bit & 64 Bit CCleaner
_____
So, my question is:
Should I use 32 or 64 Bit CCleaner, & also Defraggler in 64 Bit 7, seeing both the 32 & 64 bit versions seem to work fine?
_____
What I mean is, does CCleaner 64 Bit clean more trash under a 64 Bit OS than 32 Bit? Any compelling reason to use it over 32 Bit?
Same for Defraggler. Does it have any real benefit, other than a slight faster defrag perhaps?
I would love to know, because I (believe) that it is impossible to auto select 64 Bit when cleaning a 64 Bit OS.
But rather, user has to manually select. Am I correct?
I try to stick to 64bit executables on my 64bit OS

True. But when I press "Analysis" on both the 32 & 64 Bit CCleaner, it shows same amount of junk to be cleaned for both.
Are they equally cleanful? LOL! Surely, there is some benefit?

Thats probably because the 64 bit version does the work even if you think you are running the 32 bit.
I found with the Portable version that when I launched the 32 bit executable,
the CCleaner screen told me it was running CCleaner.com v3.1?.??? (64-bit)
When I renamed CCleaner64.exe to #CCleaner64.exe.txt I was then able to launch the 32 bit version,
and it actually ran the 32 bit version :-
There was no (64-bit) tag ;
and Analyze found much less to do because when it looked at system32 then Windows fooled it by showing SysWow64.
The 64 bit version of CCleaner deals with the aftermath of 64 bit and also 32 bit applications.
I think you may have issues cleaning 64bit registry with a 32bit app......just guessing.
Update!
I am currently using 32 Bit 7.
But I had to visit a friend who has 64 Bit 7.

I downloaded portable CCleaner.zip, & extracted to a new folder. Then, I ran CCleaner.exe, which automatically switches to CCleaner64.exe if your on a 64 Bit OS. It also does the same for Defraggler & the other Piriform products.
Thank you Alan & Tr3 for your input. Quite valuable. This saves me quite a bit of time.

I tested UAC skip, & it works quite well, excepting that you will have a prompt the 1st time you run it, in order to set it. Afterwards, works a treat!
For portable CCleaning, non UAC is probably about all you will manage, unless you actually turn UAC off. But for installed CCleaner, this is great!
