Secure Overwriting

Hi

Is it possible to prevent erasing original files, or it will be done by default?

I am trying to recover 2TB+ of accidentally deleted video files on the brand new hard drive (there were nothing on that drive prior to those video files). I used Wizard, so I did not see any options in advance.

After scan was complete, I went to options and under Folder recovery there is an option on how to erase original files - I don't want to erase them, because if Recuva would not recover those files (as I seen in this forum, some mp4 files are not readable, and I have hundreds of mp4 files), I will have an option to try something else. IF Recuva overwrite those files, this is it.

Any suggestions appreciated.

I assume you mean in Advanced Mode, under Options/Actions, there is a box marked Secure Overwriting? Ignore this, as it only applies if you specifically select secure deletion, which you won't be doing.

Just recover your files as normal (to another device), you will not overwrite any original files on the disk.

I don't see box for overwriting and I am using the latest version, just got it.

I need to restore folders, so I checked that box. If this box is also applicable to secure overwrite - Recuva is not for me.
