CCleaner includes a secure file deletion feature, but this setting is currently global. Would it be possible to add an option to securely delete only selected items?
Two possible solutions could be considered:
- Add a per-item secure deletion option in Advanced Cleaning:
Instead of a simple checkbox, each item could have three states:- Do not clean
- Clean normally
- Clean securely
- Allow users to manually specify folder paths for secure deletion:
Users could enter specific folder paths in the settings that should always be securely wiped.
This would give users more control over what gets securely deleted and what doesn’t.
This would be especially useful for users who have both an SSD and an HDD. Secure deletion on SSDs is ineffective and reduces their lifespan, so it makes sense to reserve secure deletion for HDDs only.
