ex: how CCleaner can scan temporary files, cleaning cache & cookies and registry?
answer: it only scan cached files or some specific extension files(.xml,.mp3)

It does it by knowning what specific files and areas to look for.
It has a list of files and file types which defines the areas of the PC to clean.
This 'list' can be found using the /EXPORT switch. The 3 files it creates are what CC uses to identify the crap to remove.
Further control is achieved by using INCLUDES and EXCLUDES.
