No your doing just fine, there seems to be a bug occuring for a few people...
I encountered this error and fixed it by running a chkdsk on the problem drive.
You can try if you like:
Click start
Click run
Type cmd
Click OK
Type chkdsk C: /F /R /X
(If the problem drive is not C then just change the C: above to the correct letter)
When asked if you want the scan to run on restart Type Y then Press Enter
Manually restart your machine and let it do the scan, report back any errors it fixed, so that the developer might see.
Tried the fix but it didn't work for me and i get the same results with 18th July 07 - v1.02.091 Beta version.
Sorry I cant think of anything else to try right now
You could try running recuva in debug mode:
Find the recuva shortcut, right click, click properties at the end of the text in the target box after the quote type /debug click ok
"C:\Program Files\Recuva\recuva.exe" /debug
note the space between " and /debug!
Now run it again from that shortcut, if recuva crashes it should leave a debug text file in the recuva install directory.
Copy and paste the debug report in a reply to this post.

For further info i have now run Recuva on 3 different computers and they all fail on the drives after running Webroot Windows Washer - "Free Space washer" has been applied to them.
Thanks for the error log, we'll be looking into this issue shortly.
MrRon
The next release of Recuva fixes the issue related to Windows Washer, so my advice is to watch this space for news of the first full release.

I also used to use the WW free space washer but gave up on it when it started taking 1 second to wipe a drive and then saying it had wiped all the free space on a 5GB partition (any partition/drive).
That was some time ago though. Did your WW have that fault Nick?
