Yes, when I use CCleaner on Custom Clean and make sure 'Saved Passwords' is unchecked under EACH browser, CCleaner STILL deletes all of my save passwords. Windows 10

I've split it out into a new thread.

When you say "deletes saved passwords" do you actually mean that you are being logged out of websites?

There is a big difference between the two things. (But users do keep mixing them up).

The "Saved Passwords" that can be cleared by Custom Clean are where the browser has asked you 'Do you want to save this login?' so that it can auto-fill the login name and password for you the next time that you want to login there again. 

You should always keep that unticked unless you deliberately want to delete all of those saved login names and passwords.


For example- in Firefox they are saved to a file called 'logins.json' in your Firefox profile. (The actual usernames and passwords are encrypted within that file).

The things that keep you logged into websites are Cookies and the browsers "Session" cache. 

Some active logins are saved one way, some are saved the other way.

To remain logged into websites after running CCleaner :

  1. Make sure you have added the websites where you want to remain logged in to the Cookie Allowlist (Cookies to Keep).
  2. If you are using Custom Clean also untick 'Session' for the browser. (each browser that you use).

In Health Check by clicking on <em>'Keep me logged in on some websites</em>' after you have scanned. (Which is probably the easier way to do it if you are not sure which cookies you need to keep).

Windows > Windows Explorer > [Network Passwords]

That is File Explorer not a browser, and 'Network Passwords' are the wifi logins to the Router networks (SSIDs) that you connect to, or have connected to in the past.

So it has nothing to do with website logins, but is good to point it out because it can be another source of confusion for some users.
