Hi,
I have always used the option to cleanup at system startup. Now it does not work any longer. Only thing I can think of is that I "upgraded" to Windows 10 and fell back almost instantly to Windows 7. After that, the automatic launch option doesn't work any more. I have tried everything (checked the registry entry, uninstalled/installed, run as admin, etc.) I haven't found anyone with the same issue yet, wich bothers me kind of... Anyone?
Not sure if it may have anything to do with Fast Boot.
I have it turned off because I don't like the fact that when you select 'shutdown' on a machine with FastBoot enabled it's not a real shut down, just a pretend/hibernate type thing.
Hi, I do not (consciously) use Fast Boot. The "auto launch" option of CCleaner used to work fine before. Only after my fallback from Windows 10 it doesn't work any longer. Very strange, I tried everything...
Fast Boot/Startup is enabled by default in Windows 10
Have a good read of this page which will help you understand what it is and does.

I read the tutorial you refer to, when I come to the point to "Change settings that are currently unavailableā (I see the option in the panel, just like in the tutorial) NOTHING happens. Through your tip regarding FastBoot, I realized that I have been messing with the power options lately, and that that may actually be the issue here (NOT the fallback from Windows 10...). But even when I have restored all the powerplans to their default settings, I do not get the option to "turn on (or off) Fast Startup". I am currently using Windows 7, as I stated before. And, when I click "Change settings that are currently unavailableā, nothing happens... I will try another reboot, see what happens... Thx so far for your help!
I forgot you had fallen back to Win 7, in my mind you were still on Win 10 ![]()
Any luck after rebooting?
Nope, I am still puzzeled, especially since nobody else seems te have this issue. Most of the time, when Googling correctly, I find an answer to any issue, but not this time. Registry setting & msconfig tell me that CCleaner should run at system startup ("/auto"), but it just doesn't... Not after uninstalling/installing, not after restoring my power options to default, not after reinstalling in admin mode, not after setting the "Run Ccleaner when the computer starts"-option as an admin... And the strange thing is it used to work correctly, Before, I used to see the icon is the taskbar. /Monitor doesn't work either, only after I've started Ccleaner manually. I just need to figure this out because I cannot stand it that something doesn't work as designed ;-)
What is also different is that I now get promted to run Ccleaner, even if I start it as an admin. I know I had that issue before but I got rid of it a long time ago. Before, even if Ccleaner did get started automatically at system startup, I still got prompted. And when I finally worked around that, it really worked in the background. So it looks a bit like a security settings issue, don't you think?
Just an obvious thing to check (which I'm sure you will have done but I guess I have to ask)
Have you checked that all the notification icons that you wants to show in the taskbar are actually showing?

If you look in the Windows task Manager after you have booted up are any instances of ccleaner showing?
1st question: yes
2nd question: no instances/processes showing, only after I start Ccleaner "manually"
