Restoring the Registry?

Help!

I ran the registry cleaner and backed up the old registry before making changes. But, apparently CCleaner did not automatically save the registry backup as a .reg file.

In frequently asked questions it says to right click on the saved file and click merge. Well, because it didn't save it as a .reg the computer doesn't recognize it.

Any suggestions?

My problem is that my computer has slowed down so much after using CCleaner that I have to walk away from it after I click on a program or option at least for a few minutes otherwise I end up clicking multiple times and locking the whole computer up. The only thing I can think of is that registry did not need to be fixed.... A few programs are working just fine but others (mainly spybot) are super slow.

Thanks,

Balootex

Spybot does currently have a bug that is causing it to take ages to start up, and also when closing after updating. This bug has existed for a few months now and the Spybot developers have a fix for it but are yet to actually release it as an update.
