Restore Registry

I just downloaded the latest version of CCleaner. I ran the cleanup as well as the Registry cleanup. I did backup my Registry before cleaning it. I plugged in my Canon PowerShot SD600 (as I regularly do) and my computer did not read it. I plugged my camera to another computer and it works fine. I attached my PDA to the USB port I had used for the camera and it connected and Sync. Could I have removed something that my camera reading requires? The dialog box that usually appears when a device is plugged in giving you options for opening, etc. did not appear, however, it does appear when other devices are attached. Should I restore my Registry and if so how do I do it from the backup. Thanks

My guess is possibly you need to change the autoplay settings for the device to get that pop menu of options back.

It's possible in My Computer to change those settings for USB devices like USB Thumb Drives, etc., by right clicking them and making changes in the AutoPlay tab.

Thank you so much for the info. It appears that my Auto Play is fine. Since I downloaded the latest update with CCleaner my computer will not read my camera nor the picture part of my cell phone. I think some file that enabled the reading of picture devices was removed. Do you have any idea what that file could be? Thanks

cant you reinstall the driver?

Reinstalling the driver like ident has suggested is the best advice, as it should typically fix any issues.

If you can replicate CCleaner breaking the device(s) functionality it may be because of a file located in a strange place such as the user Temp folder which CCleaner cleans. Excluding such a file via CCleaner's exclude function won't cause it to be removed anymore. Or a registry key may need excluded.
