Remove an app

I want to remove an app from my MacBook.
If I select the relevant app in the list of all apps and then click the ‘Remove’ button, absolutely nothing happens.

Thanks for this link but there is an option in CCleaner that doesn’t work in my case.
I’d like to let CCleaner remove the apps I select.

Sadly, there are several things that don’t work, that being one of them.
