Registry Integrity

. . .Good day to everyone. I just began using 'Cleaner' which I think is a very useful tool to have. My question is in reference to the 'Registry Integrity' function. After scanning for issues it asks if you want to 'Fix selected 'Issues', I'm not sure what that means, and also if I fix them what does that mean for my system integrity? Each of the problems are displayed in a window that says: 'Fix the Issue' or 'Delete It,' my quandry is what to do, fix it or delete it? Thanks in advance for any responses I receive.

Hi antboydude, and welcome to Piriform.

The CCleaner "Issues" feature deletes the entries it lists. There isn't any actual fixing carried out, and in my experience with other reg cleaners, the same thing applies with them all. Deleting is the "fix".

All the entries it finds are, to put it simply, "dead links". The important thing is to follow the CCleaner dialogue and make a backup of the entries deleted.

Better still is to also use a tool called "ERUNT" to make a backup of your entire registry once per day at first boot.

This backup can prove to be a life saver if your PC runs into serious problems at any time.

ERUNT:

Hope that helps, but post back if you need more advice.

EDIT: Also read the CCleaner guide here. (I've linked to the registry section)
