Hello,
Once again I’m experiencing endless difficulty in using CCleaner as has happened in the past.
When I open it it opens and I get an error message saying I’ve not activated it. I enter the activation code, --******, from your eMail of May this year…
I’ve attached a screen shot showing the error message page.
Will you please please please resolve this problem once and for all.
Many thanks for your reply it is very much appreciated.
I’ve received a list of my registration details and yes the number I’m attempting to register is indeed a new one I’d completely forgotten I missed a year previously. Please excuse me if I seem incompetent with all this I’m very old now and my memory is far from what it used to be. I hope I’m not becoming a nuisance.
Something very strange. When I tried to follow your ‘Activate new key’ I received an error message saying I’m not connected to the Internet though of course I am. This error message was repeated several time as I tried other options on the opening CCleaner page.
I’m going to check my security softwares and VPN to see if anything there is causing this problem and if you know of any other reason that is causing this please advise and I will check it out. I will report back to you.
The ‘Not connected to the internet’ message is a standard one - and it is inaccurate.
What it actually means is that a server cannot be contacted for some unknown reason.
Whilst that might be your internet connection or firewalls, it is just as likely to be a malfunctioning server, or something else on the long chain of links between your computer and the server.
Of course you have no control over the server or the net, so the message just suggests that you check the things at your end that you do have some control of.
Hello again nukecad and many apologies for the long delay in replying. The problem is resolved! I turned off my security softwares and immediately I opened CCleaner the activation went through straight away!
Thank you once again for your help with this it is appreciated.
Thanks for letting us know that you found the issue was with your security/firewall settings.
Just to note though that if you find that some features and tools in CCleaner are not working as they should then the prime suspect would have to be the same cause.
Software Updater, Driver Updater, and various other things need to connect to servers to work properly.
So you may want to make CCleaner and it’s connections to servers an ‘Allow’ in your security.
