Recycle Bin not emptying + inconsistent cleaning results on latest version (new laptop)

Hi all,

I’ve installed the latest CCleaner on a new laptop (ASUS Zenbook) several times, and I’m running into two issues:

1. Recycle Bin not emptied
   Every time I run a clean with the “Empty Recycle Bin” option selected, CCleaner reports that it cleaned other items, but the Recycle Bin still shows files afterwards. I’ve tried this multiple times after reinstalling the latest version.

2. Inconsistent cleaning results
   When I repeat the exact same cleaning process (same checkboxes, same browsers/apps closed), the summary of what was cleaned vs. not cleaned is different each time. Sometimes it finds a lot, sometimes very little, even though I haven’t used the PC at all in between runs.

Given this, I’m wondering:

• Are there known issues with Recycle Bin handling or inconsistent results in the current release?

• Is there a known “fully working” version I can safely roll back to until this is fixed?

Regarding the recycle bin.
Is it CCleaner that is finding files there every time, - but if you actually open the bin there are no files in it?
If so then you have a corrupted recycle bin, it’s fairly common and easily fixed see the second half of this:

You will never get CCleaner to report zero - simply because Windows is creating temporary files all the time, (CCleaner even creates some when you open it and then cleans them when you run a clean). Sometimes it finds a lot, sometimes very little

It is normal to keep finding files to clean if you run CCleaner 2 or more times at once.

When CCleaner clears files by deleting them sometimes Windows will recreate them as empty files straight away, so CCleaner finds them to clean again.
For some files CCleaner will empty the file without deleting them, so it will always find them to empty, even if they are already empty.

Don’t worry too much about it, it isn’t a bug, it’s simply the way a computer works. Firstly you should note that “Clean” doesn’t mean “Delete”, you can clean things out without throwing them away. So just because something always shows up doesn’t mean that it hasn’t been cleaned and isn’t already empty. On the Recycle Bin issue, do you have Custom Clean> Configure (Top right of Custom Clean)> Deleting files> Only delete files older then 24 hours > in Recycle Bin enabled?
