Recuva only finds files at start of disk

Hello folks.

I have a 'dead' 300GB SATA NTFS drive. It was partitioned as boot/80GB/200GB.

When I start a scan with Recuva, it quickly finds 36,483 files by about 12% of scan.

It then carries on for another hour or so and completes the scan but it finds no more files.

The vast majority of the ones it finds are recoverable but there should be some 960,000 files in all.

Any ideas?

Regards

Stuart

I've seen Recuva fail like this before it would scan my virtual drive image but finds nothing although it was formatted and had stuff left over.

I used 2 different recovery programs (no names mentioned) both could find plenty of files to recover.

When you say dead SATA I assume you mean the partition table got corrupted?? in which case you might want to try TestDisk.
