I deleted a folder (with sub-folders) that contained several files. When I ran Recuva it couldn't find any deleted files. Then I re-ran with deep scan It found a hugh number of deleted files, but not the folder or files I was looking for.
I have had the same problem with a Scandisc data stick which suddenly that my college files music & video and some word files had been deleted or that the data stick was faulty in someway/ When I ran Recuva it couldn't find any of the files. I depearately need those files and wonder if the only option will be to wait until I get a job and can pay a specialist company to retrieve the files for me, at a cost? If anyone out there knows of anything else I can try, please let me know!
For both posters, Recuva will only do what it can. I would try a deep scan, with Scan for Non-Deleted Files checked. If you can't find the files by name, then look at the date or file size or file type and see if there are any possible matches. Try Tree mode as well. Also Windows renames files sent to the Recycler, $Dcnnnnn in XP and $Rnnnnnn in Vista onwards.
If all fails then there are other free recovery applications available, which can't really be discussed here.
