I'm trying to restore about a thousand deleted images from an SD card (long story short, I'm "that guy" so it was given to me)
Recuva finds them, but I can't open them. JPEGsnoop (free) will restore the images so they can be opened and RS File Repair (trial version - don't try to obtain the paid copy!) shows the image. (this forum mentions irfanview, which I tried but it will not open them)
oddly, it's restoring the wrong files..
for example, the first image it's located is DSC0069 (I don't need this one, it was backed up and the card wiped, and then used again (the 1000 images)) it states that DSC0069 can not be recovered because it's been overwritten with DSC0850.
I have a perfect copy of DSC0069 that Recuva restored.
When I open DSC0850, the image is that of DSC0069 instead. this happens for every single image (851 is 70, 852 is 71, etc)
I've run a deep scan and pulled all images from each file (all thumbnails match the incorrect photo as well, as though the images I'm trying to access never existed..)
I'm at a loss.. does anyone have any suggestions?
