I am getting message that the local C drive is full and that I need to remove some files so Windows XP can run properly. I transferred a number of files to an external hard drive to free up C drive space. Accidentally transferred some start up files that Windows needs to properly boot to the main desk top page. I tried using a Reinstallation CD from Microsoft. CD appears to work until I get to a "Files Needed" embedded window. Window contains the
following statements: "The file 'asms' on Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 CD is needed. Type the path where the file is located, and then click OK.
Copy files from: GLOBALROOT\DEVICE\CDROMO\I386 small flashing screen appears at bottom of window. The mouse arrow is frozen and can not be moved.
Is there any way Recovu or any other software can help me recover the transferred files from the external hard drive so that the computer can be started properly? As you would imagine I am afraid of losing the stored files that I have on the C drive. So I am hoping there is some solution available
for correcting my huge mistake.
Thanks for any assistance you can give to me.
