recovering file but it wont open

I deleted a video from my Flip hd recorder by mistake so i did a search and found this program to recover the file within minutes of deleting the video.

In the options it shows up with the green dot saying it has an excellent chance of recovery.However when i recover the file it will not open in any video player.

I get the following error

Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or a required codec might not be installed on your computer.

I have tried renaming the file. I have tried opening it in my flip video recorder. When I do that it freezes the thing and i have to take the battery out.

Any ideas?

Obviously the file is not suitable for WMP or Flip which suggests the file is damaged.

Unfortunately deleted files that show up green in Recuva don't always recover correctly.

Not sure if you may know this.

But when i view the file i can see the first clip of the video. It looks like the problem may be that the video detail isnt filled out in the file properties. Is there a way for me to manually fill that in?

That's just a thumbnail and is stored in another part of the file, that happens sometimes with image files as well.
