Recovering deleted documents

Om 6/13/15 I backed-up My Documents file to a flash drive & deleted it on my PC in order to free up space to install a new software program. Unfortunately I compressed the back-up folder & was never able to open it. The problem is that I wanted to restore the original deleted files. So far I'm having no luck with Recuva as I can't tell or figure out how to search for those particular documents (describe, location name) & the files shown are too complicated for me (a "computer illiterate") to decipher or understand. These documents are VERY IMPORTANT to me as I can't re-write them. Any & all help is appreciated

What operating system are you using?

How did you compress the files? Did you use a certain program to compress or just right click 'send to zip'?

What error do you get when you try to open the compress file?

Have you tried any of these ways?

Any chance the deleted files are still in your recycle bin?

Windows 7 32-bit Home Premium.

Used "send to zip"

Errors such as "invalid" "folder is empty", "not archive" etc.

Tried File assassin, Pea-zip, 7 Zip & other methods which are suggested on that link. No good.

Not in the recycle bin

What format was the flash drive, NTFS or Fat32?

The Flash drive (actualy 2 of them) is Fat32
