Hi everyone,
Recently, I accidentally erased all the data from my hard drive. I used the free version of Recuva to recover the files, and while it did manage to retrieve a lot of data, the files didn’t retain their original folder structure.
I made sure to activate the “Restore folder structure” option, but the recovered files still aren’t organized the way they were before deletion. So basically I just got a unique folder with thousands of files mixed together.
Does anyone know if restoring the full folder structure works properly in the free version of Recuva, or is that feature only fully functional in the premium version?
Thanks in advance!
Thanks
Like everything else involved with file recovery the 'Restore folder structure" doesn’t/can’t always work, - however sometimes it can so it’s usually worth trying.
It all depends what is left on the drive you are recovering from, if the folder structure is no longer there (eg. if the Master File Table has been wiped or overwritten) then it can’t be recovered..
Yes, it can be a lot of work sorting the recovered files out - but at least you do have them back to be able to sort them. Which is better than losing them altogether.
PS. The Free version and the Pro version are exacly the same, for physical hard drives there is no difference at all - what you pay for is support. (support is by email and very slow to respont to requests).
Save your money.
