Can Recuva recover by date range? What will happen if the answer is still no in 2025 and I don’t have enough space to recover without narrowing down the selection? Does it stop halfway, does the whole thing fail, does it not start? Thanks!
It should not let you start a recovery if it thinks there is insufficent space.
Of course it can/will estimate that space requirement wrong anyway. It’s technical but it can’t tell for sure until a recovery is attempted.
Eg. A file may have been updated several times, recovery software sees each one as a full file to be recovered so allocate.the space needed to recover each one.
Or a drive may have been used for backups and the software calculates space needed to recover every backup ever made. (Actually not ‘ever’ just since the last Free space wipe of a HDD).
So the answer is that in such a situation, where it says that you need more recovery space than you have available, you need to restrict the parameters and recover in stages.
Or get BIG drive to recover to (even though it probably isn’t needed)
