When I run Recuva on an SD card that got deleted it shows a pile of photos. I click the check boxes to recover files. The recover button does not become active so I can click it and recover files. What am I doing wrong?

Well thats strange.
The Recover button is always greyed out/disabled until you check some files. I've never tried it on a SD card. Give it a quick try on your hard drive and see if its still disabled after selecting something.
This would happen if you highlighted the files and then moved the cursor away from the files, but CH did say clicked check boxes.
