Hello everyone, hope all is well.
Recently I had a WD My Studio LX, where the USB connector broke of the PCB.
I called Western Digital, and they said I could put the hard drive in my desktop, or a generic enclosure, and it should work again.
However, this is false because upon my research The drive automatically encrypts files as it saves.
In the generic enclosure, the drive would not produce a drive letter, so I tried mounting it, and eventually was left with a quick format.
I have not wrote anything to the drive since, so here are my questions I'd appreciate sincerely if someone could answer.
1. Is it possible since I quick formatted the drive, in the generic enclosure, that If I could fix the USB on the PCB with the orginal logic, that it would reverse the quick format?
2. If no for #1, How about if I take the part number on the orginal drive, and find an exact match, could revuca the recover my files?
The only reason I didnt try to fix the USB, is because Western Digital said I could corrupt my DATA. I'll never buy another WD drive!
Thank you for anyone who takes the time to reply!! ITs much appreciated!!
