Question About Fresco Logic USB 3.0 Driver Version Mismatch

Hi,

I noticed that CCleaner (or your driver updater tool) is showing my Fresco Logic USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller – 1.0 (Microsoft) driver version 10.0.26100.6725 (released 25-Sep-2025) as “out of date,” recommending 3.8.35514.0 (released 19-Mar-2019) instead.

Can you clarify why the newer Microsoft driver is flagged as outdated?

  • Is your tool using release date, version number, or vendor signature to determine this?

  • Is the Fresco Logic 3.8.35514.0 package considered more compatible or stable for certain chipsets?

  • Which version should I actually keep installed for best performance and compatibility?

Thanks,
Ron

Hi @rbherman,
Do you still experience this issue after updating to CCleaner v7?
The Software Updater tool uses a driver ranking system from Microsoft, please see the following article for more details on this.

So although there may be a newer diver the driver being offered has a higher rank which means it is considered a better fit for the device.
