Has anyone heard of or used either ProSecurity or Process Guard? I'm interested in comparisons between the two.
Not to discount the brain trust here, but you'll get a good answer at Wilder's: http://wilderssecurity.com/index.php
Link to both programs please.
Just want to make sure I know which programs your talking about.
I read wilders every now and then. I like some of the topics but a lot of the people there are quite paranoid.
I love all the threads where the people run like 20 real time programs.
IMHO best security forum is spywareinfo: http://forums.spywareinfo.com/

I have never tried either one. (shocking since I thought I've tried every security program under the sun.
)
I read the descriptions they seem to be similar to winpatrol and prevx. I'm not a big fan of these type of programs simply because they're annoying. They show alerts on every little thing you do.(yeah its like a firewall once you train it, it stops but its never 100% done).
I would rather someone just run an antivirus, firewall, use a non IE browser, and have spyware blaster installed.(and of course update windows) The less programs you have running the better and I'm willing to bet both of those programs eat ram like crazy(I know prevx does).
If you feel your lacking a layer of protection I would suggest a good host file like the one here: http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm
Also theoretically the sandbox approach seems to be the best, I'm currently trying it out again and it seems ok. Its not too limiting and works. Look here for more info: http://www.sandboxie.com/
Just my 2 cents I guess. Hope that provides a bit of info even if its not what you asked for.(sorry I felt a ramble coming on and went with it. )
Happen to hang out at Wilders quite a bit and have been following the link below.
Seems Prosecurity is pretty good and has a fair bit of potential.
Processguard grabs a few praises as well, so both appear to be decent programs.
I am a Sandboxie fanboy and this is used to run FF2 with noscript and adblock extensions.
Every few days I boot up Comodo firewall to see if any unwanted apps are connecting and use AVG-as(Ewido), Kav and SAS as on demand scanners which haven't found a thing after emptying the sandbox.
Sometimes I run a couple of those apps realtime, just depends on how paranoid I feel at the time.
Also use Winpatrol for it's startup manager but this is also used as needed.
Lean, mean and clean (so far anyways)
This reminded me of this thread when I saw it:

Probably not as good as the others but it might be worth trying.
These programs sound promising but that is just it. Until you test them. You won't know for sure. If I have some free time I'll put these programs on my test bed environment.
