Problem with deleted file

I like to use the DOD overwrite option when deleting my files using CCleaner. I made the mistake of putting a very large file in the recycle bin. Because of the overwrite option CCleaner was running forever so I stop it, changed the option to normal deletion and reran CCleaner. Now everytime I run the program with the overwrite option it finds that large file again in the recycle bin. I can not find this file in the recycle bin with any other program but CCleaner. I'm running Windows 7 but had the same issue with Vista. Does anyone know if there is a solution to this? I can use CCleaner without the overwrite option but would rather use that feature.

Try uninstalling CCleaner and install it again. Maybe that would resolve the issue.

...or

Create a temporary text document and type anything in it, and save it on the drive that has the issue. Then delete that text document and either use Windows built in Recycle Bin cleaner or CCleaner. That's what I've did in the past when something is "permanently" stuck in the Recycle Bin.

Sometimes that doesn't work though, and in that case I've enabled the view of Hidden Files and Folders and enabled the view of files hidden to protect Windows then go into the Recycle Bin and manually delete anything in it. Note that I don't know if doing that in Windows 7 will break anything!
