Report: Search firm resists request for records, saying the Justice Department is overreaching.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) - The Justice Department is asking Internet search giant Google to turn over search records in an effort to defend a child pornography law, according to a report published Thursday.
Google, which refused to comply with a subpoena issued last year for the search records, cited user privacy and maintaining company secrets for not complying with the government, the paper reported.
The records in question include 1 million random Web addresses and a list of all Google searches from any one-week period, according to the paper.
The government said that other, unnamed Internet search firms had agreed to turn over the requested information, but not Google, the Mercury News reported.
I'm not defending child porn, but "1 million random Web addresses ... all Google searches" just doesn't seem reasonable.
As far as I know, this is not part of an investigation, they want the logs to be used to check if it comply to Child Protection Act or something.
Eitherway, I think that it is great that Google dont say "ok, here take them!" when asked. I think that it is good, that they they say they're not okay with that.
It is their logs, and they should not need give it out unless they wish to.
And if "The Justice Department" wants the log, and Google wants to give them the logs, they they should give them only the logs of search queries, but not include any IP addresses or personally identifiable information.

I think that companies and corporations does not take privacy seriously enough.
Seriously! We are people! Did you know that? So are famous people! Even the gov are people!
What am I getting at? Don't trust anyone! Haven't you seen on TV every day a new celeb failing, or a new political scandal? You STILL believe that they are perfect?
Who is gonna judge the wrong doing judges? Sure we need justice. But not from other criminals that have done more wrong than we have!

So who is left to judge if no-one is perfect?
It is not about that. It's just about integrity and privacy and that some stuff are none of other peoples business. And that you shouldnt need to disclose anything if you dont wish to. And should not need to leave any trails behind you if you dont wish to.
This government program makes the NSA look like our best friends. Parts of it are already in operation and more of it will be soon. This is really bad.
