I need to recover pics and docs from a computer I reinstalled Windows on. For some reason, when I copied files to a flash drive, a lot of files didn't copy. Nothin new there lol. But, I need to recover pics and docs from the hard drive. I ran Recuva, but for almost all of the pics it finds, there's no preview in the preview panel. Is this normal? I see almost 200k files just in pics alone, not to mention documents. How can I figure out which are pics I need to recover and which ones aren't?
Also, is the paid version better than the free version. I do realize that paid versions of any program offer more options than free ones, but would the paid version be better?

f.ex.: - Improved VHD Image loading. (Recuva Professional only).

As far as recovery chances, the paid and free versions are equal. I'd say attempt to recover sparingly, do not recover every file it finds just the ones with names and/OR locations you are looking for. Make sure not to recover to the same drive/partition that the originals were on, and start with the ones marked "excellent", the green ones. A note the green and red do not mean definite recovery/non-recovery (respectively) just whether windows has begun to rewrite over the file's physical location
Ok cool thanks a lot I wasn't sure if the paid version had more options or better recovery methods. I'm kinda dissappointed that for most of them, it didn't show a file path, but it could be because its technically a "shadow" of what was there.
