Possible Malware in ccsetup528.exe

I just ran ccsetup528.exe, possibly downloaded from filehippo, and it behaved unlike any other ccleaner install I have previously used. Specifically, it ran for 20 minutes before I stopped the install. I suspect malware was scanning my Windows 7 system, but perhaps it was only strange but normal behavior.

Attached in Word format, is a doc with a screen shot of how the install program opened followed by a screenshot after 20 minutes with a slowly progressing scroll bar.

Is the behavior shown normal for ccsetup528.exe or is it malware??

Here is a screenshot of the suspect cc528.doc

those screen shots look normal to me.

did you tell it to do anything extra during installation, like intelligent scan for cookies or install the offered, embedded Chrome?

perhaps it also checks for updates during installation?

get the program from here and try again; https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds

(Slim build not available yet as new version only just released, if the normal build gives you grief, try the Portable)

Thanks for the reply/help, mta. I think I now know what happened.

I downloaded ccsetup528.exe direct from Piriform. When I ran it, it jumped to where I had left off, stopping my first install attempt. The scroll bar was 2/3rd across the screen, just where I had interrupted it because I feared malware. The installer claimed it was checking update. Well, I do not use Win 7 much and had just installed 284 updates. Evidently, ccsetup528.exe is literally checking each. That is why it was so slow. It is still not done, but I expect everything will be normal when it is finished.

My immediate guess was malware, but I guess if you do a lot of updates, like me, you get the result I got. I just have to wait until it finishes checking all the updates I just installed.
