Popup says, "Your CCleaner Professional has expired" - on Free version

I installed the free version (v. 2.9.187) several months ago. When I started it about a week ago, I got the popup telling me my “Professional version has expired” and “You can still scan but you’ll need to renew to clean.” I closed the popup, scanned and was still able to use the app the same as before… until today. CCleaner indicates there are no cookies on my Mac, but the MacOS still shows them. I am able to delete cookies through the OS. I was also able to delete the App Cache, Web Cache and Log Files using CCleaner.

What happened? Why does CCleaner think I have the Professional version installed? Is this a push to get me to pay for CCleaner?
