Opera icons and thumbnails not cleaned

Performed a nearly-full (Sessions and Passwords excluded) Opera cleaning with CCleaner. But after checking the 'AppData\Roaming\Opera\Opera' folder noticed that 2 folders: 'icons' and 'thumbnails' still had their respective cached files. Repeating the cleaning procedure yields no results: files are still there.

I've got Windows 7 SP1, Opera 12.16 and CCleaner v4.06.

Hi Dan, and welcome to the forum.

When this cleaning feature was first introduced into CCleaner it did if I remember correctly clear out all icons and thumbnails, which included the icons attached to bookmarks, and Speed Dial thumbnails.

This is something myself and others did not want and I personally had to spend a great deal of time replacing the icons of all my toolbar bookmark icons. And if I remember correctly also replace the images in my speed dial.

CCleaner was modified to try and find a balance betwen getting rid of unwanted icons/favicons and retaining those used by bookmarks.

If you want to completely clear the "Icons" and "Thumbnails" folders, then you can add them to a CCleaner "Include" ..

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the answer, Dennis. Alas, the 'Like This' button gives the quota reached message (quota, thus, being 0).

I suppose, this information could be mentioned somewhere on the official website (CCleaner FAQ or Features, perhaps?)

The like button is disabled apparently Dan, and the devs do take note of the comments made on the forum and may take that suggestion into consideration.

I agree it would be a good idea to give it a mention as I'm sure you're not the only one to wonder why those folders aren't cleared completely.

Really enjoying Piriform products, glad to hear the devs are listening :)
