Thanks for the heads up!

I think Opera gets a bad rap sometimes. It's a pretty fast browser and very customizable. Not my preference, but I could see using it if I spent the time to learn it better.

I understand preference, but many people who claim to love Firefox and hate Opera are just buying into the fad....the type who will go after whatever is popular. Opera is just as good as Firefox, it's just different. In some ways it is better. Praising Firefox and hating Opera has become the "in" thing to do, so that's what some people do. Then there are some who have tried Opera and given it a chance, but couldn't get used to it's differences. That's understandable, but doesn't mean that Firefox is better....again, just different.

Thanks CeeCee.

I was a devout Firefox user, and have no particular criticism of it, but since migrating to Opera (thanks hazel), I wouldn't use anything else.

Well worth the effort of giving it a decent work out.

Yeah I can see that. I discovered firefox before opera and spent a lot of time getting to know it and it works good for my needs. Not to say that opera wouldn't, but when something is just working so good for me, I figure why mess with it. I definately noticed that opera was a bit faster then firefox and IE (and to be honest, I like IE with the pro add on as well) and it has a lot of customizable features too. It's probably just the time it would take to learn all the equivalent features in opera that I love in firefox that keeps me from playing with it more. Plus it doesn't support my 64 bit vista and i like to keep my set ups pretty much uniform, so i don't think i will give it a good shot again until it's supported.

Well, that's the beauty of the browser market at the moment. An availability of choice which usually means there's something to suit just about everybody.

They're all improving with age, and it can't be bad if we can all find something that suits our needs.

One thing I forgot to mention regarding why I use Opera is because of the excellent mobile browser Opera Mini. It allows full web browsing on your phone with a zoom ability that makes web pages look exactly as they do on your PC (especially on a QVGA display and higher). If you also use the desktop version of Opera, then you can use Opera Link to automatically sync all your bookmarks with your phone...a very useful feature.

I didn't know that. That's an awesome feature which i personally would find VERY useful. Thanks for that!

No problem! If you need help getting Opera Mini working on your phone let me know. It can be tricky because not all phones support J2ME (like Verizon Wireless non-smartphones), some carriers brand their phones in such a way that Java apps are blocked form having network access, and you'll need an appropriate data plan.

What's Opera?

Opera is a woman on daytime TV.

I'm just glad all these browsers are free. I remember having to buy Netscape for $40 at a store in order to install it on my old Mac.

Sry, didn't know it was a browser. Is Opera browser good? Anyone recommend this? I am currently using Firefox and IE.

Opera is VERY good. And it's so much better than it was 2 years ago. Many important Firefox-type extensions are already incorporated into it.

Give it a try. You can have both FF and Opera installed on your computer without any hassles. Compare them, see which one you like better.

Filehippo download for Opera

Filehippo has clean downloads. Bookmark that site. ;)

Opera 10 is super fast even on my old PIII

From what I read it is much faster than Firefox.

OMG. I am in like...shock. YoKenny just supported a browser other than IE7.

Well actually, compared to 5-7 years ago, most big name browsers today are relatively good, as in they're not inherently evil....like the old AOL browser.

Dang, Kenny, that's Opera 10! You sure you wanna turn on a new person to an Alpha testing browser?

Oh, I get it. You and Karl Rove have a few discussions planned ahead.

I'm not just another pretty face.

It works for me.

Who the heck is Karl Rove?

Wow. Am I reading this wrong?
