I had the current version of CCleaner. When deleting Chrome's history, CCleaner states the data has been removed, however when viewing history in Chrome, all of it is still there.
I noticed in a similar thread that this may be a bug with the latest version, so I attempted to download 2 previous versions, only to experience the same problem. Is there any temporary fix to this until the new version is released?
apart from either going back to even earlier CC versions, running Chrome with Incognito or wiping history from within Chrome itself, then that only leaves waiting for the next release - which could be weeks away.
I too have tried going back to earlier versions of CCleaner but to no avail. It seems whatever change Google have made affects all versions of CC. What has been working perfectly fine all this time no longer does.
Perhaps the answer is to try rolling back the version of Chrome rather than CC, not that I'm particularly keen on that idea.
If anyone does find a workaround other than the manual methods suggested by mta, please do share it with us.
I've never awaited the release of the next version of CC so keenly!
Rolling back your version of Chrome could be a security risk if they've fixed any vulnerabilities!
Chrome can cleanse itself, and as mta mentioned you can also use the incognito switch with Chrome. Just note if you enable it and want to visit the Chrome Store that you'll have to start a process of Chrome normally without using incognito.
Yes, indeed - that's why I said "not that I'm particularly keen on that idea". T'was my way of saying - it might work, but I'm not prepared to try it because of the risks involved.
We know of these manual alternatives but its a pain in the butt when you've been using CCleaner for this very purpose for so long. Good luck to the devs figuring this one out and roll on the next update!
