Office 2003 is not working!

I am in trouble with office 2003! Since I run ccleaner office tries to re-install each time and it keeps crashing, it has deleted the installation files or updates or registry entries, I can not even uninstall it, even with removeral tools. HELP!

I have no backup to restore.

When you cleaned the registry there should have been a backup option.

Did you use that option ?

Have you tried restoring the Backup ?

What is your version of Windows, and what Service Pack?

You'll most likely need the install CD's, then do a Repair install of it. That's the easy way, and you really shouldn't have to completely uninstall it then install it again.

Also in the future be very careful using registry cleaners, some are just too aggressive and in fact will damage/corrupt the Office installation - I'm however not referring to CCleaner's registry cleaner though!

  1. I have no backup to restore, it has been overwrited.
  2. Windows is Vista SP1.
  3. I am in this situation since weeks. To access outlook I have to wait every day 30 minutes of "fake installation". Windows installer go wild.
  4. I've already tryed to repair installation with no result. Uninstallation and cleaning tools like microsoft specific or other does not work.
  5. I am using only ccleaner.
  6. I need always the CD to run office but every time I click something it try to install "compontents".

You could try running System Restore, but in the future, be sure to uncheck anything related to Office in cleaning, & be careful which entries you remove in Registry Cleaner. If you see Office entries after running a scan, highlight them & add to excludes.

Vista service pack 1 is no longer supported by Microsoft for security updates.

You should consider updating to service pack 2.

What is the Backup ?

i.e.

are you referring to the CCleaner created registry backup file CCxxxxxx.reg,

or are you referring to a backup of your documents created with Office 2003 ?

How was it over-written ?

i.e.

Did you choose to secure delete a small REG backup before you realised the need for it,

or were you running out of space due to large Office backup files and you deleted an old but good backup,

and its used space thus became free space which may have been since used by something else.

I have no backup to restore.

P.S. I assume you mean program wise, you have no backups to reinstall or repair this with.

Does it work to start/run box & copy & paste restore/rstrui into that box, then hit enter? (Run system restore utility to the time u knew it was working for sure)

Of course, it may also be listed under start menu, all programs, accessories, system tools or similar.

System Restore will revert a system to a prior working state.

I don't know what "backup" you're referring to. However It would be very strange not having an Office "backup" in other words the original install CD's since some of the service packs for it actually require the install CD's especially if the .CAB and .MSI files aren't stored on the hard disk which should be on one of the hard disks located in ?:\MSOCache for example: C:\MSOCache

I have a regular version of office and I do not have any possibilty to restore system or ccleaner registry backup. I've tryed to reinstall, remove with specific tool and manual remove! Nothing.

Strange that you should wait so long to reply.

Anyway I take it you have tried with the fix-it tool mentioned here?

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2639197/#Method3

and although still no longer supported by Microsoft this tool has worked well for many in the past
