Office 2003 Excel crashes after using ccleaner 2.3

Hello,

in our company Office 2003 Excel was installed via Network.

After using ccleaner, excel will not start and asked for a file named data1.msi which was on the

installation disk.

I tried it serveral times, and each time I had to ask our administrator to repair the excel-installation.

With Word, Power-Point, Outlook there are no Problems.

There were no custom settings made.

At home I use Office 2007 and there are no Problems after using ccleaner.

Has anyone the same problem or an idea how to solve the problem ?

Thank you.

Kind regards

Frank

Did you use the Registry Cleaner ?

You don't give enough information to be sure but it sounds like your are using the registry cleaning aspect of ccleaner, and/or your IT department doesn't have your user profile cacheing correctly so each time you run ccleaner a improperly placed file is being removed and office thinks it is installing a new user.

if the former is true please see my signature

if the latter is true

1 uncheck everything in cleaner (both Windows and Application section)

2 check the first item (temporary internet files)

3 run ccleaner

4 see if office is broken

5 if 4 is no, uncheck the item and check the next one and repeat steps 3-5 until office is broken.

6 when you find the item which breaks office right click on the results and choose save to file

7 post the file as an attachment to this thread

Thank you very much for your responses.

I deinstalled the version 2.32 wich I had installed with ccsetup232.exe (3.2 MB) which I had downloaded from here.

Then I have dowloaded the file ccsetup233_slim.exe (1,2 MB) from here: www.ccleaner.de and install it.

And now everything works fine :-), means I can't reproduce the error :-(

Does anyone knows what the is difference between this two versions and why ist the ccsetup233_slim.exe so small ?

A last question: is it allowed to use ccleaner on my pc in the company ?

I dont want to make anything wrong.

Kind regards

Frank

The slim version does not have the yahoo toolbar.

It is free to use ccleaner in a business environment, but it is best to have the business owners permission so you do not lose your job.
