Notification of new version release - Open Office version 4.1.16

I’ve recently reverted back to version 6.39 from the trial version 7 of CCleaner, as I much prefer the functions in the earlier version and I’m currently using the ‘free’ version..

Sometime in the past week and a half or so, I received an alert to say that the Apache Open Office version 4.1.15 has been upgraded to 4.1.16 and I should download the newer version, by upgrading to the paid version of CCleaner.

However, checking around I find that the release of Open Office 4.1.16 hasn’t been made yet, the latest post from them on November 1st confirms this.

So why if the newer version isn’t available does this ‘nag’ to upgrade still persist in CCleaner?

It sounds like CCleaner v6.39 is incorrectly detecting a BETA version of Apache OpenOffice (AOO), and these false positive detections of BETA software by CCleaner’s Software Updater are known to happen on occasion. According to the release schedule <here> AOO v4.1.16 is a release candidate that is still undergoing beta testing, but the v4.1.16 release notes <here> do state that a stable AOO v4.1.16 should be ready for release some time in November 2025.

I don’t know if this is related, but according to kronckew’s 06-Nov-2025 post # 58 today in the Wilders Security Forum topic CCleaner v7 their Driver Updater and Software Updater features stopped working correctly in CCleaner v6.39.

I can’t confirm myself because I use CCleaner Free and have deliberately modified my CCleaner Free Portable v6.39 files to remove many of the “advanced” features like Driver Updater, etc. that are included in paid editions of CCleaner - see my 08-Oct-2025 post in my topic Builds Download Page Offering Outdated CCleaner Portable v6.39.

Hi Imacri,

Thanks for the information, that’s a lot more than I’d disovered myself. I knew the lastest version was due out in October, but obviously has been delayed.

Thank goodness I didn’t decide to upgrade, not that I’m a fan anymore, especially the new v7 layout, it would have been a waste of cash.

I too also use {Competition Software} looks as if I’ll have to rely more on that in the future.
