not finding anything but old system files on disk that seems to be in recovery mode

I tried to reboot from a dvd, using a recovery disk. It seemed as if nothing happened, but my disk name was renamed as RECOVERY (C:) with 2 directories: Logs and Recovery, and one more file: running. The Recovey directory is empty, and the Logs directory has 4 files: patch_cmd, restore7.exe, restopre7.exe.re, winrelauncher.exe.re.

I hooked up the disk as a slave in an other computer and ran Recuva, asking for all files. It found many files appearing to be systems files, all older than the date I purchased the computer (new from Dell), or the installation date, and one current file: running.xml.

Is the a way to find files from before the date I tried to boot from the recovery disk?

thanks!

problem resolved.

DIsk was partitioned, and appeared in drives.

That's just what I was gonna suggest. post-8751-0-33785100-1356046981.gif
